Why is a parcel held?
Three reasons dominate: the declared value exceeds relief thresholds and duties are owed; the documents provided by the sender are incomplete or inconsistent; or the goods are subject to specific regulation (food, cosmetics, electronics, suspected counterfeits).
Documents to send us
The arrival notice or customs letter, the purchase invoice or proof of value, a precise description of the contents, and an ID document. If the parcel is a gift or contains personal effects, tell us: the applicable customs regime differs.
How we proceed
We check the documents, determine the tariff classification, calculate customs duties and import VAT, file the declaration with the administration and follow the file through to release. You do not need to travel anywhere.
How long, how much
The lead time depends on the completeness of the file, any required authorisations and customs inspections: the more complete the file, the faster the release. The cost consists of duties and taxes owed to the State — which we calculate in advance — plus our fees, announced before anything starts.
My parcel is at Roissy, do you also handle Orly?
Yes, we handle files at both Paris platforms.
Customs threatens to destroy or return my parcel, is it urgent?
Yes. Storage periods are limited and warehousing fees accrue daily. Contact us immediately, including at weekends.
Can I do the formalities myself?
You are entitled to. In practice, a classification or valuation error can cost more than our fees and considerably extend the blockage.
